SeaLions Top LAFC Chelsea 2-1
Saturday Jun 26, 2010

The San Diego SeaLions earned a crucial 2-1 win tonight against LAFC Chelsea. The team hits the road tomorrow to take on the Claremont Stars. In their last meeting, San Diego beat Claremont 1-0 at home at Cathedral Catholic High. A win away would put the team in second place, and in good position to earn a playoff spot.

Newcomer Alex Topp scored in the 88th minute to give the San Diego SeaLions (3-3-1, 10 pts) a thrilling 2-1 victory over LAFC Chelsea (4-3-0, 12) in a Women's Premier Soccer League match at Manchester Stadium on Saturday night. The SeaLions benefited from a LAFC own-goal in the 18th minute, after midfielder Danica Carey's throw-in was deflected into the goal. LAFC rallied back in 28th minute to even the game at 1-1 on a Erika Prado goal.

The SeaLions hosted their first annual EcoExpo prior to and during the match. Several eco-minded organizations were represented to distribute free product and valuable information regarding ocean and energy conservation to young SeaLion fans. The City of San Diego's Environmental Department was on-site with their recycling mascot Bonita Blue Bin, pictured here with Sammie the SeaLion.
